Frequently asked questions about our Online Running Programs

What equipment do I need to do these programs?

You will definitely need a good pair of running shoes to do any of our online running programs. We suggest that you visit your local running store and try a few pairs on to see what fits you the best. Most specialty running stores have experienced staff that can help you pick the right shoes for your feet. In addition to shoes, it is recommended to have some technical, sweat-wicking clothing so that you are comfortable and dry while you run. For winter running, a breathable toque or headband, running gloves, a jacket, and a balaclava or buff are essential, especially in very cold and windy conditions. Remember to always dress in layers so that when you do warm-up, you can take clothing off. A fuel belt, vest, or backpack is convenient to hold water, electrolyte drinks and running fuel for your longer runs that are more than an hour (Intermediate 2 and Advanced Online Programs).

What pace do I run at?

For the beginner running program the pace is always easy. In running terms, easy means a pace that you are able to have a full conversation at. Running easy will allow your body to adapt to running and also build endurance. For the other online running programs, the paces are described right in the program itself.

What if I feel like I can do more than the assigned workout?

It is important to remember that running is great for your body but it also is hard on your body so as a result, not all running workouts should be hard. We have designed these programs to be progressive, so each week builds from the last. You will have days that you feel like you can run forever and days where you will want to quit, that is the nature of running and exercise. We recommend that you stick to the program so that your body adapts properly and stays injury-free.

What if I miss a workout on the day that is assigned?

If you miss a running workout in Truecoach, you can always go back and check it off once it is completed. You can also check off workouts that are in your program ahead of time. It is highly recommended that you stick to how the program is laid out so that you have rest days in between your runs. Having said that, it is okay to run two days in a row if it is once in a while. The greatest contributor to your success will be running consistently. Please keep in mind that as a client, you will not be able to change the days of your workouts right in Truecoach.

What do I do after the program is complete?

Plachecki Coaching has four online running programs that are all 12-weeks long and build from the previous program. So once you are done a program, there is another one that you can purchase. You can even repeat the same one again. The program order is as follows: Beginner, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and then Advanced. Once the advanced program is completed, most people purchase a personalized running program from us since it is specific to their goals.
